Winnipeg to be Site for Pan-Canadian Interactive Literacy Forum

Manitoba’s ministers responsible for literacy, education and training are hosting the provincial segment of the first pan-Canadian Interactive Literacy Forum on April 14 and 15 in Winnipeg.Advanced Education and Literacy Minister Diane McGifford, Education, Citizenship and Youth Minister Peter Bjornson and Competitiveness, Training and Trade Minister Andrew Swan are inviting literacy stakeholders to take part in the forum entitled Literacy, More than Words.
Keynote speakers participating in the two-day forum include former governor-general Adrienne Clarkson, political satirist and author Linwood Barclay, singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark, professor and adult learning expert Paul Bélanger (via taped message), workplace literacy advocate and former RBC Financial president Charles Coffey, early childhood development advocate Fraser Mustard and former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna. David Asper, executive vice-president of CanWest Global Communications and chair of the National Post newspaper, will be a guest speaker during the event.
