Yellowknife RCMP charge a man in First Nations Bank robbery

A man has been charged in relation to a robbery at the First Nations Bank of Canada.

At approximately 12:10 pm on Wednesday February 13, Yellowknife RCMP received a call for service for an alleged armed robbery.

A man entered First Nations Bank of Canada, downtown Yellowknife on 48th Street and used a weapon, described as a knife, to request money. The employee provided an undisclosed amount of cash and the man fled on foot. The suspect is believed to have fled in the direction of the downtown core.

RCMP attended the scene and began an investigation. Yellowknife General Investigative Section and Northwest Territories Forensic Identification Service assisted with the investigation.

As a result, Robin Kelly, 34 from Yellowknife, is charged with Robbery with a weapon (s. 344), Disguised with intent to commit (s. 351(2)) and Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (s. 88(2)).

Robin Kelly is scheduled to appear in court in Yellowknife on July 11th, 2019.
