About this event

  • 2 hours

Join us for an evening of stories with Nathan Wilson, an indigenous storyteller who is a member of Tsawwassen First Nation. Nathan will share his indigenous heritage and cultural traditions as well as indigenous and geographical history of the local area. As the Delta School District’s indigenous cultural mentor, he specializes in sharing his culture with others in interactive and meaningful ways.

Note: This session is for mature audiences, however all respectful particpants are welcome. We hope to offer more sessions with Nathan throughout the year.

A bout Nathan Wilson:

Nathan’s ancestral name is Kaanáx̱ Kuwóox̱ʼ, his English name is Nathan Wilson. Nathan is Daklaweidi (killer whale clan) through his Tlingit and Southern Tuchone (Yukon Territory) ancestry, Coast Salish of Musqueam descent and a member of the Tsawwassen First Nation. He grew up in Ladner in a family of fishers and learned a lot about the land from his grandfather. Nathan has worked with First Nations youth for many years. He has been the Indigenous Cultural Mentor with the Delta School District since 2014. Nathan has played and coached many years with the Delta Lacrosse Association. He also dances with an indigenous dance group, Dakhka Khwaan, from the Yukon Territory.
