About this event
This is a unique workshop that encourages discussion and reflection through art and conversation. People in Canada celebrate National Indigenous History Month every June and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. These are great opportunities to acknowledge Indigenous Peoples, to learn about their histories, cultures, and ways of life. Come join Mizze to celebrate their Indigenous culture and share a cup of Algonquin tea. Reflect through art, discussion, or any other way that helps plant the seeds of reconciliation.
Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 – $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.
If you have any questions, please email us: info@alcoveartscentre.ca
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Mizze Walker is a 2-Spirit artist and reconciliation activist from the Peace and Friendship Treaty of the Mi’kmaw First Nations. Mizze’s mission is to support all Canadians in the journey of reconciliation so that “we can walk along this parallel path together.” Living as a neurodivergent person Mizze has often found comfort through reflection through art and music and wishes to encourage others to do the same.
