About this event
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Fall Centre for Global Equity in Emergency Medicine (GEM Centre) Discussion Event, focusing on healthcare experiences in northern regions. This engaging gathering will take place on Wednesday, November 13th, at midday in Room 3RFE439, R Fraser Elliot Building, Toronto General Hospital.
Join us for an insightful discussion that will:
- Draw parallels between international global health work and experiences in northern Ontario
- Feature remarks from two esteemed speakers, Wendy Lai, ED physician at Humber River Hospital & Sioux Lookout, and former President of Médecins Sans Frontières Canada, and Maija Robinson, ED physician from Sioux Lookout
- Provide ample opportunity for networking and socializing
This event aims to bridge the gap between what has historically been considered global health and Indigenous Health, highlighting overlapping motivations and skillsets in both fields, and opportunities to contribute to improving access to high quality emergency care in Canada.
We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new participants interested in contributing to the Sioux Lookout Emergency Department as well as those interested in becoming part of the GEM Centre community.
