Indigenous Evaluator Gathering Advertisement

Johnston Research Inc. is hosting an Indigenous Evaluators Gathering on:

  • December 8, 2021, 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM, EST
  • January 26, 2022 from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM, EST

The gatherings arise from the need to ensure that:

  • Evaluation efforts align respectfully within Indigenous communities.
  • Indigenous evaluation models are both accepted and used as the primary tool for the assessment of programs.
  • Indigenous indicators framing success must be used to assess outcomes accurately.

It is crucial for Indigenous evaluators to network and collaborate to share resources, ideas, and opportunities. It is our intent that the gatherings continue to accomplish this.

These sessions will build upon the objectives and learning of the first gathering as outlined below.

Summary of Part 1:

On March 24, 2021 Indigenous Evaluators were invited to join the discussion around the evaluation of Indigenous programming.

Led by presenters across various fields, the gathering informed a powerful, spirited discussion regarding Indigenous evaluation when contracting with governments/funders and rethinking how evaluation should operate within Indigenous communities; along with encouraging opportunities to connect, build networks and collaborate within breakout sessions.

We hope to continue to build upon the objectives of Part 1 into Part 2 through:

  • Discussing any recent challenges and successes to aligning evaluations respectfully within Indigenous communities
  • Continuing to build the vision for Indigenous Evaluators collaboration and strengthening our capacities for Indigenous Knowledge Systems
  • Continuing to build a strong Indigenous Evaluators Network
