Indigenous Evalulators Gathering
Indigenous Evalulators Gathering
Dialogue Among Indigenous Evaluators: Part 1
March 24th, 2021
12:45 pm to 4:30 pm EST
Indigenous Evaluators are invited to join the discussion around evaluation of Indigenous programming. The gathering will host presenters, breakout sessions (with opportunities to build networks and collaborations) focussed on Indigenous evaluation when contracting with governments/funders and rethinking how evaluation should operate within Indigenous communities.
Indigenous evaluators want to ensure evaluation efforts align respectfully within Indigenous communities. Indigenous evaluation models need to be accepted and used as the primary tool for the assessment of programs. Indigenous indicators framing success must be used to assess outcomes accurately. Indigenous evaluators need to network and collaborate to share resources, ideas, and opportunities.
The objectives of the gathering are:
- To discuss what supports are needed to engage, collaborate, and build a strong Indigenous Evaluators network
- Identify what the current challenges are to aligning evaluations respectfully within Indigenous communities
- Starting to build a vision for Indigenous Evaluators for collaboration and strengthening our capacities for Indigenous knowledge systems
Breakout sessions will be part of the gathering in addition to in-depth discussions. The gathering will be interactive using SLI.DO to gather quick input on discussions.
