Red Dress Day

Come join us at the Indigenous Learning Centre, Grandmother Buffalo Healing Lodge

Red Dress Day, observed on May 5th, is a day of remembrance and action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S) in Canada.

  • The red dress has become a powerful symbol of the thousands of Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people who have gone missing or been murdered.
  • It was inspired by artist Jaime Black’s REDress Project, which features empty red dresses to represent these stolen lives.
