About this event

Join us for the Ottawa Screening of the Unrigged Series. Presented by Synapcity in partnership with Unlock Democracy CanadaMoi&Dave and TV Ontario we are excited to bring episodes one and two of Unrigged to the big screen in Ottawa. Based on renowned author Dave Melsin’s book, Teardown, Unrigged explores the challenges facing modern democracy in Canada, connecting with experts and everyday Canadians to uncover real, on-the-ground solutions.

At the event, we’ll be joined in person by Dave Meslin who will chat after the screening about the series, his book Teardown, and civic engagement in Canada. We’ll also hear from other prominent speakers including College Ward Councillor Laine Johnson, Synapcity co-founder Manjit Basi and the co-chair at Unlock Democracy Canada, Kevin Rupasinghe.

From breaking down barriers to revealing blind spots, Dave Meslin highlights simple, creative, and proven ways to strengthen democratic institutions and processes throughout the Unrigged series. Join him on this eye-opening journey to explore how we can fix a broken system—one solution at a time.

Dave Meslin is a campaign strategist, community organizer, and author of “Teardown: Rebuilding Democracy from the Ground Up.” Unrigged is a four-year project that has brought together political enthusiasts from around the world. Its creators traveled thousands of miles and met inspiring people who believe that a better democracy is possible.

After the screening join us for a reception in the Atrium sponsored by Unlock Democracy Canada. Enjoy a bite and beverage and network with fellow CityMakers and community activists. Get a chance to speak with Dave and pick up a signed copy of his book, Teardown.

Ben Franklin Place is fully accessible and free parking is available outside the venue. We will be in the Council Chamber room which is closest to the Library entrance at Ben Franklin Place. Baseline station is a few minutes walk from the venue.
