Position Summary

Interior Health’s Rocky Mountain Lodge (RML) invites applications for the role of Audiometric Technician. RML is looking for a knowledgeable Audiometric Technician with experience in providing clinical, technical, financial and administrative services to support the delivery of clinical care primarily to children and vulnerable adults who may be at risk of or who have a hearing loss.

In this role the Audiometric Technician conducts general Audiometric tests, such as pure tone hearing screening and/or testing, otoacoustic emissions screening, impedance screening and sound level measurements using equipment such as audiometers, hearing aid analyzers and sound level meters. Utilization of behaviour management techniques is executed to facilitate testing by such strategies as visual reinforcement, games, distraction and conditioned responses.

Reporting to the Pediatric Audiologist you will draw upon your ability to provide client care and support by instructing clients/caregivers and answering questions about the use and care of hearing aids/ear couplers/FM/ Assistive Listening Devices and to provide client follow up by documenting information relevant to hearing aid fitting, modification and performance and monitor case file for new or ongoing problems and taking action as appropriate.

This is a permanent, full-time position with scheduled of Monday to Friday. As a permanent employee, this position is eligible for Interior Health’s 100 percent employer-paid benefit package and enrolment in Pension Plan.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • • Post-secondary diploma in a health or social services field and one year recent related experience.
    • Current valid BC Driver’s License.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills related to young children and persons who may be communicatively challenged.
  • Ability to interpret baseline screening tests and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and within a team environment.
  • Physical ability to perform the job including use of laboratory tools and audiometric testing equipment.
  • Ability to use related equipment, such as a computer and work effectively in a Windows operating environment.
