Position Summary

A Cardiac Medical Sonographer opportunity is currently available with the Penticton Regional Hospital in Penticton, BC; a family-friendly community with a unique combination of urban amenities and stunning natural surroundings.

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 140 acute care bed hospital and is responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to patients throughout its service area. Join a team of four Cardiac Medical Sonographers who work in a very diverse, busy environment where techs are constantly on the move.

As the Cardiac Medical Sonographer, this position is rotating Days and Evening shifts and has potential to work in both Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology Ultrasound.

Working in accordance with established vision and values of the organization and in accordance with the standards of professional practice, the role of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations and related duties while working in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists, physicians and other health care professionals. Our machines are the Philip iE33 and our staff do a variety of tests from Stress Echo, Contrast Echo, Bubble Studies, to Doppler tests and Transesophageal Echo. Our team environment includes Cardiologist(s), Cardiac Technologists, X-Ray Technologists and our Pacemaker Clinic Staff.

All of our sites are connected through our regional Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) integrated into our single Electronic Health Record providing real-time patient histories anywhere within Interior Health. We have clinical advisory groups that are working together to ensure best practice throughout Interior Health.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized/accredited North American Program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography).
  • Current certification with Sonography Canada (CRCS) as required for the assigned practice area (i.e. Adult Echo) and/or current certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (i.e. RDCS) as required for the assigned practice area (i.e. AE).
  • Eligible for membership with Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS.
