Position Summary

Based in Cranbrook, BC, at Rocky Mountain Lodge (aka Cranbrook Health Centre) we have an employment opening for a dynamic and diverse Clinical Dietitian. In this position the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for outpatient counseling, the Healthy Heart Program and the Eating Disorder Program via individual appointments and group classes to patients/clients. In the Healthy Heart and Eating Disorder Programs the Clinical Dietitian is part of a multi-disciplinary team.

In this role nutrition care and support to individuals and groups are provided according to established policies, standards and procedures. Utilizing clinical techniques and knowledge, the Clinical Dietitian provides nutrition services through: nutrition assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs; consults and communicates with the multidisciplinary care teams; acts as a resource to other health professionals and communities within Interior Health.

This position is to provide coverage until April 2022 or the return of incumbent. Schedule is Monday to Thursday Days. Dependant on the successful applicant’s experience, there is the possibility of additional casual hours. Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nutrition and dietetics.
  • Successful completion of an accredited hospital based dietetic internship program (or equivalent acceptable to the facility).
  • Registrant of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • Two year’s of clinical nutrition experience in a health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience suitable to the facility or program is required.
  • Practice specific requirements and experience in programs applicable to practice area such as: nutrition support, disordered eating, cardiac health.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License.

  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
  • Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of IH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
  • Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
