Position Summary

We are looking for a Community Respiratory Therapist for a permanent, part-time opening for Kimberley Health Centre. It is a position based in Kimberley and serves the communities of Kimberley, Invermere and Golden.

Regular days of work are Tuesdays through Fridays. What Will You Work On?
The Community Respiratory Therapist works within the community and primary care sectors to deliver respiratory therapy services and programs. It is a position that is connected to the East Kootenay (EK) Primary Care Network (PCN).

The EK PCN is a network of high‐functioning, multi‐disciplinary health care providers working closely together to improve delivery of comprehensive primary care. It aims to optimize the overall health of the population in the EK by providing timely access to person‐centered, comprehensive, team‐based care that is both equitable and culturally safe. It is based on a wide body of evidence that shows that this approach achieves the quadruple aim of increasing access to care, improving patient outcomes, enhancing provider experience and reducing care costs.

How Will You Create Impact?
• The promotion of respiratory health;
• The assessment, education, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with respiratory dysfunction;
• Communicating and demonstrating community and hospital based respiratory care procedures to other health care professionals and students;
• The use of respiratory equipment or special procedures.

How Will We Help You Grow?
• Extensive orientation with experienced Respiratory Therapists and multidisciplinary clinicians.
• Regional Respiratory Therapy support system of PCN and community RTs within Interior Health.
• Local Respiratory Therapy support system of community and acute care RTs exist within the EK.
• Opportunities for continuing education, webinars, and online educational sessions including funding application opportunities.

Who Are We Looking For?
A Respiratory Therapist with a passion for helping patients to self-manage their chronic conditions, a patient advocate with enhanced organization and communication skills. Ability to work independently and autonomously yet be a strong team player. Local travel is required within this role in the surrounding area. Access to personal vehicle will be required; a valid Driver’s License is necessary.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program in Respiratory Therapy and two years’ recent experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation, home oxygen, and sleep disordered breathing screening, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current certification with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) and eligible for registration with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and CSRT.
• Current valid BC driver’s license.
