Coordinator – Research Navigation

January 9th, 2023

The Chiefs of Ontario is looking for a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Coordinator, part of the Research and Data Management team. This position will assist the Senior Research Navigator. The Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of complex and confidential administrative and support tasks.

Location: Flexible. Work from Home or Hybrid options are available.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating meetings, including full meeting preparation, agenda, booking location/venue and catering
  • Coordinating travel arrangements, submitting travel claims and cheque requisitions to ensure proper recording for finance submission
  • Recording, transcribing and preparing minutes of meetings and workshops
  • Utilizing software (MS Word, Excel, Adobe, Powerpoint) proficiently to produce documents
  • Drafting and editing correspondence, reports and internal office communications
  • Order supplies, equipment and other materials as needed
  • Participate in meetings as may be assigned. Travel may be required
  • Responsible for general administrative duties as required

Relevant Skills and Education:

  • College certificate in office administration or training certificates in different programs (MS Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint)
  • 1-3 year experience in office administration
  • Working knowledge of First Nations governance structure, traditions, culture, and values and understand the history and relationship between First Nations and the Crown
  • Experience working with First Nations, universities, research institutions and provincial and federal governments
  • Proficiency in computer application skills (word processing, spreadsheets, project scheduling and internet)
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting within an organization and external agencies
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Successful candidate must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

DURATION: February 2023 – March 31, 2024, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability.
