JOB SUMMARY:

The Cultural Advisor/Coordinator acts as the primary resource to O Gwadeni:deo Management and staff in the development and enhancement of the Haudenosaunee, cultural-based component of service delivery, facilitates the development of and access to the Haudenosaunee support system and wellness services and promotes enhanced cultural awareness amongst clients and within the community.

And to act in an advisory capacity to ensure that Haudenosaunee parent protection concerns are identified and resolved through the matching of the appropriate Haudenosaunee cultural supports.

And to act in an advisory capacity to link with other Ogwehonweh Nations to ensure matching and the provision of cultural supports to non-Haudenosaunee clients.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant:

  • must pass a criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screening
  • must have a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license
  • must be mature and able to expand and enhance their knowledge; abilities and personal suitability; and be able to demonstrate/implement these requirements on an ongoing basis
  • must be willing to work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends
  • must be Haudenosaunee and have a personal commitment to the Haudenosaunee way of life and minimally speak one of the traditional languages
