JOB REQUIREMENTS
Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: 1 year of established and demonstrable experience as a qualified Early Childhood Educator
Ability to Supervise: 3-4 people
Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Medical exam, Vulnerable sector check
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling
Work Location Information: Childcare centre in Urban area. Relocation costs covered by employer. Willing to relocate.
Work Site Environment: Non-smoking, Air conditioned

Additional Skills
Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers, Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
Children’s Ages: 18 months – 4 years
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Emergency childcare first aid and CPR, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Work Setting: Day care centre or nursery school
Early Childhood Educators Specific Skills:
- Participate in development and implementation of child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children,
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity,
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits,
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor,
- Participate in establishing guidelines for behaviour,
- Assess abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with team and parents,
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children,
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
