JOB SUMMARY: The Education Manager reports to and works under the direction and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer. The Education Manager leads the Education Coordination Office (ECO) in accordance with the policies and procedures established by SNGREC.  The ECO gathers and disseminates information related to education along the lifelong learning continuum and provides administrative, coordination and technical support to the Six Nations Lifelong Learning Task Force (SNLLTF).  The SNLLTF is mandated by the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council to develop recommendations to the community on a lifelong learning (education) system.

The Education Manager works within the policies and procedures established by Six Nations of the Grand River.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field and experience in supervision of support staff.

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and three years of experience in supervision of support staff.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an interdisciplinary team.
  • High level of computer skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong project management skills and experience, including the ability to define and meet project purpose and objectives, undertake all project activities, monitor and track progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge and understanding of education system issues in a First Nation community.
  • Knowledgeable about the Six Nations learning environment;
  • Strong understanding of Six Nations history, languages and culture;
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgement and work independently with a high degree of initiative and creativity in problem solving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and high degree of interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Current driver’s license and insured vehicle.
