Event Coordinator – Special Projects

Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) is a national Indigenous, non-partisan association. Our mission is to promote, strengthen and enhance a prosperous Indigenous economy through the fostering of business relationships, opportunities, and awareness.

The Event Coordinator, Special Projects supports the event team and the development and/or continuation of marketing projects, promotional plans, and the coordination of project launch logistics and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works on and supports special projects and CCAB annual events as assigned
  • Coordinates timelines, schedules and needs for re-branding initiative
  • Organizes and coordinates schedule for monthly Coffee Connection webinar
  • Coordinates all department project/event requests, organizes critical path, and initiates approved plans
  • Writes drafts, proofs copy, schedules deadlines, communicates event project needs, and tracks timelines and results
  • Coordinates marketing and communications responsibilities for In-partnership/member sponsored projects and events
  • Assists in planning and executing projects and assignments from beginning to end
  • Collaborates on and supports event manager/director with graphic design needs for all event projects including promotional materials and communication needs
  • Understands the wide scope of CCAB programs, services, membership base, and company brand to help create effective marketing campaigns around events and projects
  • Participates in the integral role of ensuring the Marketing team achieves the scope of work, deliverables, and CCAB’s annual goals and benchmarks for the benefit of the entire organization, board, CCAB members, and partners

Skills, Education & Work Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, or diploma in Event planning or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience in events or project-based experience
  • Must be well-organized with strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, work independently, and follow through to resolve day-to-day matters
  • Excellent verbal and proven written communication skills
  • Able to adapt to new assignments, apply best practices, refine written plans, timelines, and communications
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with key partners including Indigenous businesses, corporate partners, government officials, and members
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in handling sensitive data and confidential information
  • Willingness to travel (minimal travel required), work a hybrid model (home & Toronto office)
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required

Considered an Asset

  • Familiarity with Indigenous business and relations
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Working in a member-based organization
  • Tech savvy with the ability and interest to learn and use technology efficiently and quickly
  • MPower, Campaign Monitor, WordPress, CANVA, Adobe Creative experience

This is a full-time position with hours from 9am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Located in Toronto and the surrounding area.
