Position Summary

Interior Health’s Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) invites applications for the role of Registered Nurse (RN), Ambulatory Care (GI Suite). RIH is looking for Registered Nurses knowledgeable in the practice focus of Gastro Intestinal (GI) nursing to join the Ambulatory Care Team.

RIH is a 258-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people. As a tertiary referral hospital, RIH is a no refusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 visits per year. RIH’s Ambulatory Care provides a variety of services including chemotherapy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy clinic, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, gastroscopy, IV Therapy, Minor Treatments, Infectious Disease Clinic and Diabetic Foot Clinic. The RN, Endoscopy works along physicians assisting with scopes.

As member of the RIH Ambulatory Care team, you will coordinate and oversee the overall care of the client and set priorities, provide clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plan and implement health care treatments and interventions, and assign and delegate tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team. Reporting to Manger, Clinical Operations, you will draw upon your ability to establish therapeutic relationships through the use of effective interpersonal and interviewing techniques, ensuring client choices and autonomy in decision making and care planning.

Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts when available will fall within a Day schedule. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities, as once hired employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCMN).
  • Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of Endoscopy (i.e. Certification in gastro intestinal (GI) Nursing). Or advanced preparation in Perioperative Nursing will be considered.
  • Minimum of two years recent, related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment (e.g. GI Nursing or Perioperative Nursing).

  • Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.

Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
