Direct Marketing strategies and execution play a significant role in generating funds to support the CRC’s mission. Under the direction of the Manager, Direct Mail, the incumbent will help implement direct mail strategies focused on donor acquisition, renewal, conversion and upgrade. They will be the key contact with the Core direct mail agency to facilitate the execution and deployment of 25 appeals a year, ensuring that campaigns mail on time and with complete accuracy. They will also be responsible for communication to internal and external audiences regarding direct mail programs.

In this role, you will: 

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Core mail programs including House Renewal, Acquisition, High Value and Blended Giving campaigns for English and French Canada.
  • Handle the day-to-day relationship with external vendor(s).
  • Perform production management duties in the areas of:
  • Planning
  • Data
  • Copy and design
  • Printing
  • Lettershop
  • Mailing
  • Review copy and components for each direct mail appeal and send for input from all stakeholders required.
  • Approve components after all input is accurately reflected.
  • Monitor the extraction and delivery of data as it relates to direct mail production.
  • Review and approve live laser samples in a timely manner to confirm data appears correctly in relation to established segments, test files and geographies.
  • Resolve any production issues with the vendors and escalate to Manager, Direct Marketing as needed.
  • Maintain filing system of electronic copies of mailers in shared folder.
  • Ensure all tests are clearly recorded and tracked.
  • Review weekly agency Traffic Report for accuracy/efficiencies, detailing the status of all current mail projects.
  • Be responsible for the digital integration of key direct mail campaigns:
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop digital assets for key integrated direct mail campaigns. This includes data pull requests, email copy, paid search ads, online donation pages, translation and imagery as needed.
  • Review copy and components for digital assets and send for input from all required stakeholders.
  • Approve components after all input is accurately reflected.
  • Ensure timelines are followed to deploy as scheduled.
  • Monitor and report back on results and insights.
  • Manage communication to internal and external audiences regarding direct mail program:
  • Send mail alerts for each campaign deployed.
  • Update direct mail calendar as required and communicate campaign drop dates to appropriate audiences (Canada Post, WeCare, National Processing Centre).
  • Act as first point of contact for issues related to WeCare, social media team, National Processing Centre and Canada Post. This includes the ongoing tracking and monitoring of donor complaints and feedback.

What we are looking for: 

  • Completion of a 3-year post-secondary program from a recognized academic institution in a relevant discipline, preferably in marketing, communications, fund development or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 3-5 years of progressive, relevant experience in direct marketing, production or project management.
  • Superior project management, organizational and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capacity to effectively navigate and communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementation of targeted direct mail marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of direct mail donor relation principles and data segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM an asset.
  • The ability to manage effectively in a changing environment with multiple conflicting demands.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset.
