Position Summary

Interior Health’s Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) invites applications for the role of Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide. PRH is looking for Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aides knowledgeable in the detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies/instruments for various areas of the hospital.

As a member of the PRH Medical Device Reprocessing Team, you will perform a series of detailed technical duties related to preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the position and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. You will restock supplies in the theaters and storage areas and transport patients, specimens, equipment and supplies within the perioperative areas. You will support the surgical team regarding patient observations and interactions, and in the use, care and location of perioperative equipment and supplies.

Shifts will follow a rotating schedule of Days (07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 09:00 to 17:00) and Evenings (13:00 to 21:00, 15:00 to 23:00). Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Processing Course, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
