Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistant to join our cohesive Lab team at the Boundary Hospital, in the friendly community of Grand Forks.

The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of duties within the hospital, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing.

This position may be required to collect samples from satellite laboratories at nearby sites such as Greenwood and Midway therefore the successful applicant is required to have a valid BC Drivers Licence.

This is a casual position. Days of work are rotating and shift times include a variety of day shifts between the hours of 06:30 and 15:30 on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Grade 12
Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
One year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid BC Driver’s License
Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
