Position Summary

Medical Technologist, Molecular Microbiology opportunity available now at the Kelowna General Hospital!

The Medical Technologist performs technical work involved in the Molecular Microbiology Program. The Medical Technologist performs nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) on clinical specimens, evaluates and verifies results, prepares related reports and performs notifications as required.

This is a term specific 0.73fte night shift position until December 31, 2021 . Days of work are rotating and shift times are: 23:00-07:00, 00:00-08:00 and 22:00-06:00.

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two of Interior Health’s tertiary referral hospitals and the Lab at KGH is our largest and most diverse. This is a full-service Laboratory offering Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology and Point of Care testing. The Lab employs a large team of generalist and specialist Technologists who deliver progressive inpatient and outpatient Lab services utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technology. This position is situated at the Kelowna General Hospital in the vibrant and growing city of Kelowna. Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program and current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) OR Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related biological science relevant to the assigned section.
Two (2) years of recent, related experience including experience performing nucleic acid amplification testing in a research based laboratory or an equivalent combination of education, training and recent related experience.
