Position Summary

We have an exciting Relief Full Time opportunity for an experienced Mental Health & Substance Use Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Adult Community Support Services (ACSS) team in Kelowna.

The ACSS team supports people with active and on-going mental health problems. The team helps people gain skills to live independently. The team includes: nurses, occupational therapy, social work and psychiatrists. The team sees people at the centre, in their home, or in the community.

As the MHSU Nurse, you will ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30.

Qualifications

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.

Two years’ of recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
