NIHB & Administrative Coordinator

Michipicoten First Nation (MFN) is a vibrant Anishinaabe community located on the white sands (northeast shores) of Lake Superior near Wawa Ontario. The registered population is approximately 1,400 with 70 citizens living on reserve. With a strong sense of community and cultural identity, Michipicoten First Nation strives to maintain harmony and balance with Mother Earth, neighbouring First Nations, and surrounding communities.

Michipicoten First Nation is seeking a fulltime NIHB & Administrative Coordinator to administer the Non-Insured Health Benefit (NIHB) program and to provide administrative support to the Health and Social Services Department.

Under the direction of the Manager, Health & Social Services, the NIHB & Administrative Coordinator will assist MFN citizens with navigating the health care system, scheduling medical appointments and arranging transportation.  The NIHB & Administrative Coordinator is also responsible for providing administrative services to support the flow, organization and communications of Michipicoten’s Health & Social Services Department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates Non-insured benefits (NIHB) (65%)
  • Provides Administrative Support (35%)
  • Provides back-up support to Community Health Representative

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Administrative Assistant and (or) Business Administration Certificate or Diploma
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ administrative experience
  • Previous experience working with a First Nation Community (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Highly proficient with MS office and Adobe Pro, zoom, Teams
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Knowledge and respect for Anishinabek culture
  • Attention to detail and excellent proofreading
  • Able to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy
  • Maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to organize and manage digital and physical files
  • Adaptable to various software applications used within the department
  • Able to create posters and marketing materials

Other

  • Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal records check (if hired)
  • Satisfactory driver’s abstract (if hired)

TERM:  Full-time, permanent

WORK LOCATION:  Michipicoten First Nation (near Wawa, Ontario)

WAGE RANGE:  $22.29-$24.82/hr
