Program Coordinator, Centre for Indigenous Community Infrastructure

Plans, coordinates, and facilitates research and training activities of the Centre for Indigenous Community Infrastructure (IICI), including indigenous community engagement, project identification and procurement, and expert support for research and training projects. Translates strategies into program plans and deliverables in support of meeting program objectives while promoting service excellence. Provides support in event planning and general administration for the Centre.

Specific Accountabilities

1. Program Operations: Manages all ongoing operational activities of the Centre, including but not limited to educational workshops, research and training projects, community engagement events, all in support of core program delivery including administrative and financial functions, resource allocation, monitoring and communication. Coordinates cross-project activities of inter-connected projects with the scope of the Centre with the objective of maximizing resources and enhancing communication.

2. Community Engagement: Supports the Director by assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of a Centre to promote and foster engineering education for indigenous youth and students. Collaborates closely with the Engineering Outreach Office to expand the significant outreach activities of the Faculty of Engineering to encourage indigenous youth to enter the engineering profession and to build their careers in serving their communities. Designs and coordinates events for target groups to increase the profile of the Centre and deliver key messages.

3. Continuous Improvement: Devises key performance indicators and ensures accurate tracking of data for evaluating performance against program objectives. Analyses performance trends and adjusts program elements accordingly. Monitors industry trends and norms to introduce innovations into program planning and delivery, and ensures continuous alignment of deliverables with global objectives of the Centre while favouring service excellence.

4. Client Service and Communications: Acts as communication liaison between the management, clients, contributors, experts, researchers, and other stakeholders in order to ensure the effective sharing of critical information related to the Centre. Ensures that accurate and clear information related to the program, deadlines, and requirements is consistently available and updated. Addresses client feedback, escalates more complex areas of concern to program management, with the goal of favoring service excellence.

5. Research Support: Supports the Director in the preparation, coordination and administration of new Centre research grants and contracts, and submissions for research projects, through coordinating communications, and ensuring timely submissions by collaborators and co-applicants from research network members.

6. Program Promotion: Acts as ambassador for the Centre, and actively promotes program impact, features and successes. Effectively communicates the link between program objectives and the overall vision of the Centre, while consistently supporting and upholding the reputation of the program.

7. Resource Coordination: Administers accurate inventories of resources required for program delivery. Contributes to the overall planning for all program offerings by projecting resource requirements for the Centre, including material and space requirements.

8. Reporting: Provides a variety of reports to management in support of program planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the core business of the program
• 5 years of related experience in program or project management
• Experience working with Indigenous communities and lived experience of Indigenous cultures
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent considered an asset
