Position Summary

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Regional Knowledge Coordinator works with the Program Leadership and collaborates with Operational Leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of program delivery, education and related knowledge services within an assigned HCIS Program area.
Through an Aboriginal Mental Wellness Plan, Interior Health (IH) is committed to improving the mental health and wellness of Aboriginal peoples. This position will focus on educational initiatives using adult-focused education related to Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) and the Aboriginal Mental Wellness Plan.
This position offers the opportunity to connect with different communities throughout Interior Health. You’re working to improve the system acting as a change agent for our Aboriginal populations. Join our team as we work together to improve the mental health and wellness of Aboriginal peoples.

Under the direction of the Director, Aboriginal Mental Wellness, and in collaboration with MHSU Program Directors, the Regional Knowledge Coordinator promotes consistent development, application, delivery and integration of evidence-based knowledge services within the assigned HCIS Program area by:

  • Acting as the expert resource and providing problem solving and facilitation assistance for assigned area of specialty to Operations Managers, and Knowledge Coordinators – Operations
  • Identifying effective delivery methods, technology and venues for required education and knowledge transfer;
  • Developing and implementing knowledge transfer methods/techniques and supporting their use by staff (and others); and
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of knowledge services initiatives and evaluating/reviewing the learning needs of staff (and others).
  • Meaningfully engaging with First Nations and Aboriginal external and internal stakeholders primarily within the Interior Health region

The Regional Knowledge Coordinator utilizes adult teaching /learning and group facilitation principles and methods, project management, quality improvementand change management principles, and acts as a specialty resource to Knowledge Coordinators–Operations, Team Leaders, Operations Managers and others by providing guidance and support in relation to education/knowledge transfer methods, technologies, best practices and initiatives within the assigned HCIS Program area.

This position links with the Knowledge Coordinator team and IH Clinicians by providing guidance and support in relation to education/knowledge transfer methods, technologies, best practices and initiatives.

Qualifications

** Pursuant to section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal Ancestry**
Aboriginal identification must be included in cover letter and or resume.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position.
  • Three (3) years’ recent related experience in the assigned HCIS Program/Operations area and two (2) years’ formal experience in adult teaching/learning, group facilitation, project management, curriculum development, providing in services or staff development function;
  • or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Previous experience working Aboriginal Peoples, preferably within the Interior Health region
  • Cultural competency and cultural safety training and experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the principles of Trauma-informed practice is preferred.
  • Current valid BC driver’s license as travel is a requirement of the role.
  • Availability to work flexible work hours from time-to-time is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.

Equipment:

  • Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing.
  • Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
