Position Summary

Put your perinatal nursing skills into full motion and join the passionate and welcoming nursing staff at the Vernon General Hospital.

We are looking for a self-directed, motivated, reliable and flexible Perinatal Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a team environment and has a strong desire to learn. If you are trained and experienced in Perinatal, we want to hear from you!

Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH) is a Level 1B Perinatal Unit that provides care up to 34 week gestation. Our nurses rotate through all service assignments (i.e. ante, intra, and postpartum; pediatrics; gynecology; and nursery) and on average we see 800 births per year at VJH. Single Room Maternity Care offers a great way to practice perinatal nursing.

VJH’s Women’s and Children’s Health Services has a wonderful team spirit enhanced by the wide range in nurses’ experience and great staffing levels. Our staff enjoys a very collegial and cohesive relationship within our department, which includes GPs, a Mid-Wife, Obstetricians, and Pediatricians. We would love for you to join our team!

Shifts of work are rotating days and nights; 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

This relief position will run until December 25, 2022 or return of the incumbent.

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Advanced preparation in a Perinatal clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education & experience.
• Current Fetal Health Surveillance.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) within 2 years.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years.
