Position Summary

Is Mental Health Nursing your passion? Casual Mental Health Nurses opportunities are available. Apply now to join our amazing team at Vernon Jubilee Hospital!

Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s Mental Health Department provides services for adolescents, adults and psycho-geriatric patients in the North Okanagan, which includes all areas from Vernon to Revelstoke. There are 17 beds and one secure room and our RNs/RPNs work 8-hour or 12-hour shifts.

The VJH Mental Health team utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to provide care to psychiatric patients. The duties include treatment, one-on-one and group counselling, administering medications, creating care plans, discharge planning and working with community organizations. Under a Person Centered Care model and incorporated Tidal Model philosophy that is “recovery focused and wellness oriented,” the team is enabled to increase patient participation and satisfaction as it facilitates more direct contact with nurses (or the treatment team) while simultaneously increasing the nurse’s capacity to work with the patient as opposed to supervising them. The team strives to be an integrated service to clients, encourages staff to challenge themselves, and supports educational opportunities within the hospital and community settings.

If you are an experienced Mental Health Nurse with a positive attitude who thrives in a fast-paced environment working with patients with concurrent mental health and substance use challenges, we have the career for you.
