Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to fill an exciting and rewarding Relief Full Time opportunity within our amazing team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital! Join us in beautiful Cranbrook BC.

Our Psychiatric department is a 10 bed inpatient unit that includes 2 seclusion rooms. We have recently completed a department renovation with a focus on staff and patient safety. We have a very skilled and seasoned team that includes a team leader, 2 RNs working 12 hours shifts 24/7 with a 3rd RN on weekdays from 1000-1800 and weekends from 1000-1700, a unit clerk and 3 Psychiatrists. We provide group activities and skills development during the course of care.

The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse provides: nursing care to psychiatric patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team; enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers; demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice; maintains and advances own clinical competence; participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

This is a Relief Full time position scheduled to run until March 31, 2022.

The shifts for this position are rotating days and nights from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00.

• Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
• Two years’ recent related experience in a mental health and substance use environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
