Description:

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time Limited Term Research Associate position with primary research interests in 2SLGBTQ+ research and education. The successful candidate will contribute by way of their research expertise to research studies related to advancing the health of sexual and gender minorities. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Daniel Grace, the Research Associate will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers and trainees based at the Centre for Sexual and Gender Minority Health at the DLSPH.

Your Opportunity:

The research associate will play a key role in leading health research to support 2SLGBTQ+ health, including the PI’s current CIHR funded research related to advancing the sexual, mental, and physical health of gay, bisexual, queer, and other men who have sex with men. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the PI’s lab activities including but not limited to: developing protocols and partnership agreements, quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis, grant writing, program evaluation, preparation and submission of manuscripts and abstracts for peer-reviewed publication, conducting literature reviews, preparing reports for stakeholders, preparing and delivering presentations to stakeholders and scientific audiences, organizing a 2SLGBTQ+ speaker series, and the direction and supervision of other research staff and students. The candidate will liaise and provide advice and support, with national research partners, study team members, Indigenous Elders, community members, and an Advisory Board on 2SLGBTQ+ research and education at DLSPH. Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have:

  • A PhD degree or an acceptable equivalent in a subject related to sociology, public health, psychology, or another related field in the humanities, social sciences, or health sciences.
  • Demonstrated success in the writing and preparation of quantitative and/or qualitative manuscripts, presentations, reports, briefs and scientific abstracts for peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience conducting research in a relevant field of 2SLGBTQ+ health
  • Display strong written and oral English communication skills
  • Work well in a team environment and with diverse 2SLGBTQ+ community organizations
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • The successful candidate will be assisting in mentoring and training graduate students in the PI’s lab and helping to advance 2SLGBTQ+ health research and education at the DLSPH.
