Position Summary

Interior Health is seeking casual Rural and Remote Adult Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Workers for the Kiro Wellness Centre in Trail, B.C.

The Rural and Remote Adult MHSU Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The MHSU Program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behaviour, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.

The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Shift type(s) are days and shift times are from 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

If you have strong assessment and treatment skills and possess a human caring and relationship centred approach to practice then we would like to hear from you.
