Position Summary
Interior Health is seeking casual Rural and Remote Adult Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Workers for the Kiro Wellness Centre in Trail, B.C.
Kiro Wellness Centre offers a variety of services in one location. The types of services delivered depend on patient needs and on whether comparable services are available nearby. Community Health Centres do not have acute care beds, but may provide: basic laboratory and radiology; urgent care; outpatient ambulatory care; community services; long term residential care services; and/or on-site doctors’ offices.
The Rural and Remote Adult MHSU Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The MHSU Program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behaviour, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.
The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.
Shift type(s) are days and shift times are from 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
We require a Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.
Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid BC driver’s license.
