Position Summary

South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver is looking for a Casual Service Aide to join their team! – if you have graduated from Grade 12, and have one year’s recent related experience….Apply today!

As a team player you will perform a variety of duties related to keeping the nursing units clean and organized including stocking shelves, filling orders and keeping related records.

Typical Duties Include:

• Ensures patient units (such as Emergency Room, Obstetric Suite, Ambulatory Care, etc.) are stocked with equipment;
• Orders non-stock supplies as per established levels from regionalized stores departments;
• Keeps the nursing service areas tidy by storing and stocking supplies;
• Soaks, washes, dries and stores patient care equipment used within the nursing department;
• Transfers instruments used in the nursing units from sinks to a bin for CSR pickup;
• Receives, delivers, unpacks and stocks pharmacy supplies in accordance with established procedures;
• Cleans by dusting/wiping equipment;
• Removes and replaces SHARPS containers and empty recycle bins when necessary in all Patient Care areas;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Hours of work: Monday – Friday, 07:00 to 13:30

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 – 37.5 hours per week.

Education, Training and Experience:
• Grade 12, plus
• 1 year’s recent related experience
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Ability to organize work.
