The Senior Manager RR&R is a proven leader and effective communicator, with an ability to manage complex issues with innovation and progressive thinking. This position reports directly to the geographic Vice President AB/NWT.
In this role you will:
- Implement and develop the Indigenous Relations and Risk Reduction &Resilience – CSE Strategic and Operational Plan and Framework, ensuring alignments to Provincial and National Strategic directives.
- Manage the programs operational plan, provides quarterly reporting, and adjusts outcomes and activities as required to ensure alignments to overall provincial strategic goals.
- Oversight of program operational budget, provides monthly expenditure reviews, facilitates financial forecasting, and participates in revenue report backs to funders as required.
- In partnership with People Services, hire, supervise, coach, and support staff and volunteers in delivery of risk reduction and resiliency building priorities.
- Is the Indigenous Peoples program advisor and technical expert for policies, procedures, and best practices at geographic and the national level in relation to RR&R and broader Indigenous engagement to promote and support culturally safe partnerships between all internal and external stakeholders
- Works with the geographic VP, and senior leadership teams, to build evolving, collaborative, and effective working relationships with Indigenous Leaders, stakeholders, and Provincial or Territorial stakeholders formalizing relationships through agreements and service contracts.
- In collaboration with the Geographic VP, develop and maintain short-long term project specific scope, plans, outcomes, and deliverables aligned to provincial/territorial key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Project monitoring and support to delivery (including delegation of tasks and responsibilities) the field team’s implementation of CRC mandated activities including ongoing needs assessments, capacity-building activities and adaptations required to meet the needs of special populations as identified specifically through (but not limited to) Emergency Management Canada and International (EMCI) and Health (HiE and Community based).
What we are looking for:
- The minimum qualifications for this job are a university degree, and 5 to 8 years of directly related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience including working with Indigenous communities. Preference will be given to a self-declared Indigenous candidate.
- Experience in building volunteer, community, and government partnerships with specific reference to working with Indigenous communities.
- Proven program, facility, human resource (volunteers and staff), and financial management experience in a complex environment essential.
- Experience in working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural issues, specifically traditional Indigenous beliefs, and practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English essential.Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset.
- Familiarity in monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Experience in analyzing and synthesizing data in order to use it for reports and/or proposal writing.
- Mentoring of staff and supporting their professional development.
- Strong facilitator including virtual modalities.
- Team leadership strength and agility.
- Flexibility and ability to work with ambiguity/in a fluid changing work environment.
- The majority of the work is performed in a remote home office-based environment.
- Potential for responding to disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odors, smoke, humidity, vulnerable beneficiaries). These stressful rapidly changing environments with limited information to make decisions have the potential to affect the physical and psychological state of the responders on site.
- If working in a response site, health and safety considerations will be outlined prior to the assignment.
- Ability to be on-call when scheduled, respond during non-traditional hours (i.e., late nights or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.
- Overnight travel within the Province/Territory and Canada is required.
