The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) – one of the most inspirational not-for-profit organizations on this planet and an awardee on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers 2022 – is seeking a Supply Chain and Logistics Responder to join our SMC team.

The incumbent will be is involved in the team’s delivery of services as assigned. There may be several service sites supported. It is a casual position and work may be offered as needs arise. Work will not be continuous or guaranteed. Your hours of work will be based upon the availability of work and the continuing requirement for your services. This is a readiness capacity position, and the successful applicant will be expected to complete required mandatory training and learning courses prior to commencing any period of Standby or Deployment with the CRC.

In this role, you will:

  • Follow procurement standard procedures as required and in accordance with the CRC Procurement Policy
  • Assist with the demobilization and repatriation of supplies and equipment and deliver services as assigned
  • Assist with transport required to support the operation
  • Participate in operational briefings and debriefings during a response with the logistics team
  • Complete necessary paperwork or data entry as required for reports and tracking
  • Carry out inventory, warehousing, and stocks management requirements
  • Participate in SCL team member orientation & training
  • Assist in sourcing suppliers, creating new agreements for goods and services needed for operations and updating the contact information in the suppliers tracking sheet
  • Integrates volunteer resources within the scope of responsibilities, as required
  • Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment
  • Performs other duties, as required.

What we are looking for:

  • The completion of post-secondary education in a related field and or a minimum of one year of work-related experience in logistics, procurement and/or supply chain management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement and model the core competencies of the CRCS: team excellence, service excellence, accountability and results focused
  • A valid Canadian Drivers Licence. A satisfactory Driver’s Abstract will be asked during the hiring process;
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook), communication software (Zoom, Skype, Teams)
  • Understanding of the Red Cross role in disaster response, relief and recovery (an asset)
  • Excellent customer service skills and communications skills
  • The ability to remain calm during crisis, work well within a team and with minimal supervision
  • Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is an asset
  • The ability to lift and carry items up to 23 kg (~50lbs) or assist in carrying goods weighing up to 36 kg (~80lbs), to climb stairs, as well as transition frequently in and out of a vehicle
  • A certification in standard or emergency first aid, or willingness to complete as part of the selection into the role.
