Express Scripts Canada is actively looking to hire a Technical Lead to join one of their teams working out the head office in Mississauga. The successful candidate will work closely with the business to define how best to address business challenges faced by our customers and our internal operations. The Technical Lead will clarify functional requirements and non-functional requirements and develop effective designs and implementation approaches for the delivery of business applications. The Technical Lead will assure the quality of deliverables ensuring that developed products are fit for use, supportable and maintainable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create technical designs for one or more development teams as part of the Product Design and Review process.
  • Lead developers in one or more onsite or offshore scrum teams during regular Sprint cycles and Product Increments.
  • Review and approve code using best practices and established development guidelines.
  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
  • Provide estimates for development efforts based user stories.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience within Agile development environment
  • Proficient in Java, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems.
  • Minimum 5 years Core Java experience required, preferably with Java 8
  • Experience with JSP and JavaScript for web based user interface development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in using Spring Modules such as Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring AMQP, Spring Web Flow, Spring Hibernate with strong conceptual knowledge of JPA
  • Experience with both external and embedded databases. Ability to write simple and complex SQL Queries, preferably with Oracle
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Skill for writing reusable Java libraries.
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful services.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
  • Basic understanding of the class loading mechanism in Java
  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit test frameworks (Junit, Mockito)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, SVN etc.
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
