Tenure-Track Position – Accounting

The Lazaridis School of Business & Economics (Lazaridis School) at Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Accounting area, commencing July 1, 2022. Candidates with an established research record of publications in top journals will be preferred. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Accounting or a related field. Candidates near the completion of their Ph.D. are eligible to apply providing the requirements for the Ph.D. degree will be completed within a year. The appointment will be at the lecturer’s level and the commencement of the Assistant Professor level will start once the Ph.D. degree is completed.

Successful candidates for the position must have:

  • Demonstrated research potential in the areas including financial accounting and reporting, managerial accounting, assurance or taxation,
  • Obtained a professional accounting designation (Canadian CPA an asset),
  • Ability (a) to publish in top-tier business journals and (b) to maintain a highly productive research agenda,
  • Ability to effectively teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate (MBA, PhD, Graduate Diploma in Accounting) levels,
  • Demonstrated desire to contribute to service,
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team to ensure consistency across sections in a multi-section course,
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and enhance a culture of inquiry, collegiality and creativity,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the relevance of their research to a business audience.
