Job Duties:

– Drive the company’s semi-truck

– Perform preventive maintenance on vehicle

– Operate and drive the company’s semi-truck to transport goods and material

– Perform brake adjustments

– Perform emergency roadside repairs

– Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

– Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

– Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

– Receive and relay information to central dispatch

– Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

– Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

– Deliver drywall material to customers

– Assist in maintaining the company standards and high reputation

– Keep accurate information in the driver logbook

– Provide a trip report for each delivery

– Assist in loading trailers

– Address customers’ complaints or concerns

Requirements

– Education: Completion of high school is required

– Experience: Driving experience is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided

– Valid Driver’s license Class 1 is required

– Willing to travel for extended periods

– Must be aware that the job position has a large workload, is physically demanding and will require sitting for extended periods

Salary: $27 hourly, 40 to 50 hours per week

Benefits: company vehicle provided for deliveries, accommodation and meals provided only when spending the night in another city while delivering the product.

Important information:

Flexibility on schedule is required. Work schedule is from Monday to Friday or from Sunday to Friday when leaving the province for a delivery. Shifts usually start at 8:00 AM and end depending on how far the delivery point is located. There will be at least two times a week when deliveries are scheduled for other provinces. Shifts can include overnight (with stops after an 8-hour drive).
