Underwriting Services Manager – Financial Lines, Surety, Accident & Health and Programs


Job Summary

Under broad management direction, provides leadership in managing all operation activities and related support in one or more processing locations; manages all operational activities or aspects associated with a high volume production environment.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in Insurance
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in Insurance
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in Insurance
• 2 or more years of people management experience

• Insurance Industry Experience in Financial Lines, Surety, Accident & Health or Programs

Job Accountabilities – Key Accountabilities

  • Directly responsible for attainment of service goals, including the achievement of production timeliness and quality standards for all supported areas.
  • Manages to the established performance metrics, prepares and manages within operational budgets, responds to changing requirements.
  • Responsible for managing the relationship with business partners and creating a positive processing center environment.
  • Ensures compliance to all enterprise standards. Is responsible for managing others, including staffing, recruiting, performance management, coaching/counseling, staff development, leadership.
  • Responsible for the establishing and adherence to Standard Operating Procedure for four separate business units
  • Plans and executes strategic vision.
  • Identifies operational efficiencies and executes on plan to implement improvement actions.
  • Special projects: SME (subject matter expert) for operational workflow, testing and development of new systems
  • Develops and maintains strong, positive Business Unit relationships.
  • Troubleshoots problem areas; resolves problems.
  • Ensures that operation performs at expected standards.
  • Tracking and reporting on key performance metrics to Senior Management
  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
  • Maintain a Valid Driver’s License, as required
  • Regular Predictable Attendance
  • Visibility in the Office, as required – minimum 3 days a week in the office.
