Workshop Planner and Administrative Coordinator

Organization:

The AFOA Ontario is a not-for-profit provincial organization that provides professional capacity development to those working in and with Indigenous organizations and communities. We focus on Indigenous finance and management, administration, governance and leadership skills to improve our communities and organizations in these areas.

Summary:

Under the general direction of the President and Directors of the AFOA Ontario this position plans, coordinates and administers workshops on finance, management administration, governance and leadership and other contemporary topics, and other administrative duties as assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching potential workshop topics by consulting the President and Directors and target communities and organizations to establish needed workshops and their goals and objectives.
  • Arranging accommodation for speakers and participants based on enrollment numbers.
  • Arranging travel for speakers and Directors (participants generally make their own arrangements).
  • Arranging the necessary equipment for all speakers and meals for participants and speakers.
  • Collecting travel claims for onward transmission to the Treasurer.
  • Prepares briefings and reports on workshops including expenses and revenues, participant numbers, along with lessons learned and suggestions for future improvements.
  • Working with the President or Directors designing questionnaires for participants to rate workshops and suggest improvement for future events.
  • Develop relationships with other regional and national staff involved in similar educational activities to monitor their events and to obtain ideas for future AFOA Ontario workshops.
  • Reports to the Board of Directors monthly at their scheduled meeting on progress, issues, etc.
  • This position is a remote work situation.

Who should apply:

  • Possess a Post-Secondary Diploma in Business.
  • Minimum equivalent of 3 years of working experience work with Indigenous organization or communities.
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong communication, organizational and project management skills is a must.
  • Ability to work remotely and to meet objectives.
  • Knowledge of business software Microsoft applications and drop box.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to travel within the province to administer workshops which costs will be reimbursed.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate drive and motivation.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $60,000-$65,000
  • 2 weeks vacation
  • Health and pension plan.
