2017 Vancouver Walk for Reconciliation Offers Multiple Media Opportunities

Vancouver, BC, September 18, 2017 – On Sunday September 24, 2017, tens of thousands of Indigenous Peoples and Canadians from all backgrounds will come together in Vancouver and take a step on the road to reconciliation.

“It is our hope that the Walk for Reconciliation will serve as a call to action, inspiring all Canadians and Indigenous Peoples across Canada to make a shared commitment towards reconciliation and revitalized relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians,” said Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, Gwawaenuk Elder and Ambassador for Reconciliation Canada.

Following the Walk, participants will experience the Reconciliation Expo, a full-day of activities and entertainment highlighting the unique contributions of individuals from all backgrounds towards reconciliation in Canada.

The walk will start with interview and photo-op media opportunities with special guests and conclude with a series of Indigenous and multi-cultural performances, speeches and a Reconciliation Expo.

The City of Vancouver’s Canada 150+ is a year-long celebration of Indigenous culture and arts. The three signature events include the Gathering of Canoes (July 14), the Drum is Calling Festival (July 22-30) and Walk for Reconciliation (September 24).
