A Note from NationTalk President & CEO, Don Barraclough

On this National Indigenous Peoples Day, I want to extend my warmest greetings to you. Indigenous Peoples Day is a day of profound significance in Canada, where we honour and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous peoples across Canada.

As the President and CEO of NationTalk, a 100% Indigenous-owned and operated organization, I am immensely proud of our role in connecting, informing, and empowering Indigenous communities from coast to coast to coast. Since our inception in 2005, we have dedicated ourselves to distributing employment opportunities, tenders, media releases, and educational and business networking events, striving to foster a more inclusive and equitable society.

Our Commitment to Indigenous Empowerment

Our commitment to supporting and empowering Indigenous peoples and professionals is unwavering. Our various services aim to amplify the voices and initiatives that matter most to our communities. Over the years, NationTalk has grown and evolved, continually enhancing our services to serve Indigenous communities and our partners better.

Recent Initiatives and Achievements

One way we have demonstrated our commitment is through our national awareness PR campaigns. Initiatives like Soar Above Stigma and Rise Above Racism were designed with our partners to address critical issues and foster positive societal change. These campaigns have raised awareness and sparked important conversations and actions toward a more inclusive and understanding Canada.

At the onset of the pandemic, we recognized the urgent need for accurate and timely information. In response, we produced 64+ Town Hall episodes on APTN, ensuring Indigenous communities had access to crucial details during these challenging times. This initiative was part of our broader effort to provide communication solutions that meet the unique needs of our communities.

We are also currently producing a series on APTN regarding Indigenous Harm Reduction practices in collaboration with one of our trusted partners. This series aims to provide valuable information and resources to support the health and well-being of our Peoples during the current toxic drug crisis. You can watch the last episodes on www.ihtoday.ca/sbl and tune in for future episodes airing Sundays at 5:30 pm Local time on APTN through July 14, 2024.

NationTalk Magazine

We are excited to announce the launch of our new NationTalk magazine. This publication is another platform to share important stories, achievements, and opportunities within Indigenous communities. You can sign up to receive the next issue at www.nationtalk.ca/magazine and read the latest issue to stay informed and connected.

Looking Ahead

Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day, we look to the future with hope and determination. Our partnership program continues to expand, offering more value and opportunities to our partners and, by extension, to the communities we serve. We remain dedicated to our mission and will continue to strive for a brighter, more equitable future for all Indigenous peoples.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Together, we can continue to uplift and empower Indigenous communities across Canada.

Warm regards,
Don Barraclough
