Ancaster retailer Tepperman’s to offer Indigenous post-secondary scholarships at University of Windsor – OurWindsor.ca

Furniture and appliance retailer Tepperman’s has announced a new post-secondary scholarship program, in partnership with the University of Windsor, for Indigenous students.

The Tepperman Family Graduate Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples will award two fully funded scholarships annually – one each for qualifying students in Masters and PhD programs at the University of Windsor.

University of Windsor president and vice-chancellor Rob Gordon said systemic bias and lack of financial supports are among the many reasons Indigenous people are not appropriately represented in academia.

“Students in graduate programs need financial support and personal encouragement to continue their educational path and eventually share their own expertise through teaching, research and creative activity,” Gordon said in a news release.
