Aspiring Aboriginal Entrepreneurs throughout Canada compete in 3-day Business Symposium
VANCOUVER, BC – The most unique event in Canada is just around the corner. From the 24th to 27th of November, young Aboriginal entrepreneurs from across the country will participate in the 2014 Young Entrepreneur Symposium (YES), to be held at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre in Calgary, Alberta.
YES provides young entrepreneurs with an opportunity to raise their profile in the business world; highlighting their skills, driving attitude and innovative ideas. As a challenge based event, teams of delegates will participate in a series of competitions designed to help build skills and gain valuable business knowledge. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 3 teams. $5000 will be awarded to the 1st place team!
Approximately 150 Aboriginal participants from across Canada are expected to attend YES. A motivational line-up of speakers and panelists from a variety of backgrounds are confirmed to attend.

Anthony Calvillo is a former Canadian Football League quarterback and is professional football’s all-time passing yards leader. In 1998, he signed as a free agent with the Montreal Alouettes, where he became one of the most outstanding CFL quarterbacks in history. Calvillo led the Alouettes to the 2002 Grey Cup, their first in 25 years, where he was named the most valuable player in the game.
Michelle Thrush will be on the ShowBiz panel, she has been working professionally in film, television and theatre for over twenty years and is an award-winning actress with many noted accomplishments. She is best known for her leading role in Blackstone for which she won the Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role in 2011.
New Relationship Trust (NRT) hosts this annual event to unlock the immense potential of young Aboriginal people in business. For the first time, Treaty 7 Management Corporation (T7MC) has partnered with the NRT. They will co-host YES 2014 and expect the best-attended symposium yet!

YES is hosted by New Relationship Trust (NRT), an independent non-profit corporation dedicated to strengthening First Nations in BC through capacity building. NRT invests in First Nations in BC by supporting five key capacity development areas: governance capacity, education, language and culture, youth and Elders as well as economic development.
Treaty 7 Management Corporation (T7MC) provides advisory and advocacy services to all of the seven (7) First Nations that compose Treaty 7. T7MC oversees five core areas: Governance; Financial Management; Technical Services; Community Development; and Economic Development. Our mission is to provide effective advisory services in order to continue to build capacity for all Treaty 7 First Nations is a fair and consistent manner.
