BONAVISTA, N.L. – People in a small community in eastern Newfoundland say they will protest cuts to health-care services related to the recent provincial budget.
The Eastern Health authority closed the X-ray department at the hospital in Bonavista because of budget cuts.
And that has forced patients to go to Clarenville, which is about an hour-and-a-half drive away.
Neil King, a government backbencher, says he’s not happy with the decision and hopes Health Minister John Haggie will take another look at the situation.
Eliza Swyers, who lives in Bonavista, says residents are planning a protest at noon today.
