Brian Williams headlines FCC Forum speaker series

Over the last 11 years, more than 61,000 people involved in Canadian agriculture have been inspired through Farm Credit Canada’s (FCC) Forums and this year promises more uplifting insight.

In the coming months, FCC Forums will feature presentations from Brian Williams, award-winning sportscaster, Manjit Minhas, Beer Baroness and star of CBC’s Dragons’ Den, Dr. Georges Sabongui, psychologist and stress expert, inspirational speaker and author and Wendel Clark, ambassador and former captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The cross-Canada events allow producers and other members of the agriculture community to hear from a lineup of high-profile speakers at no charge. Past participants say the events are a great networking opportunity and they leave feeling inspired, ready to set new goals personally and professionally.

Brian Williams is a decorated sports broadcaster for more than 40 years. His respected broadcast style has endeared him to millions of Canadians from coast-to-coast. He has covered a total of 14 Olympics (12 for CBC, 2 for CTV) – his first in Montreal in 1976 – and every high-profile sporting event around the globe.

“I was born in Winnipeg and as a young boy lived in the small town of Invermere, in the East Kootenay region of eastern B.C.,” said Williams. “I am well aware of the role that farming and ranching and the people involved in those industries have played and continue to play in building our country. Today’s emphasis on health‎, good food and a healthy lifestyle‎ speaks to the importance of and respect for farming. I am looking forward to being part of the FCC Forums and learning more about your great and very important industry.”

The FCC Forums, presented in English, stop at Kingston, Ont. (November 25), Regina, Sask. (November 29), London, Ont. (December 6), Red Deer Alta. (December 14), Brandon, Man. (March 2), Saskatoon, Sask. (March 14) and Grande Prairie, Alta. (March 27). FCC Forums are complemented by two FCC Ag Outlook events in 2018, one being held in Western Canada and one in Eastern Canada. The half-day learning sessions will bring leading industry experts to provide valuable insights and outlooks into the economy, commodity markets and more, and will be presented in Camrose, Alta. (February 6) and Chatham, Ont. (February 27).
