Building Our Place: NunatuKavut Delegation Attends Tourism Destination Training in Bonavista, NL
October 22, 2014
(Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL). The NunatuKavut Community Council, in partnership with its business development corporation, Nunacor, is pleased to lead a delegation of key staff, community organizations and private NunatuKavut Aboriginal Business owners on a best practices mission in Bonavista, Newfoundland and Labrador.
During the 3-day event, 10 participants from NunatuKavut will partake in the Building Place: Planning and Developing a Creative Cultural Destination program at the Bonavista Institute for Cultural Tourism. Participants will develop an understanding of cultural tourism planning and development while experiencing first-hand unique cultural experiences. The delegation will then provide valuable input on the development of a NunatuKavut cultural destination plan.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our staff, community organizations and business owners as we work to develop NunatuKavut as a key tourism destination,” says Andy Turnbull, General Manager of Nunacor. “Tourism contributes to the sustainability of communities through business development, job creation and culture preservation – our communities hold tremendous tourism potential. We look forward to sharing what we learn and realizing that potential for many generations to come.”
