CAMH to celebrate opening of Aboriginal Sweat Lodge for patients
CAMH is proud to celebrate the opening of a Sweat Lodge at our Queen Street West site. CAMH will be the first hospital in Ontario to have a fully operational Sweat Lodge.
Sweat Lodges are an ancient healing tradition for Indigenous Nations throughout North America and throughout the world in many cultures and regions.
Led by expert staff from CAMH’s Aboriginal Services, the Sweat Lodge will offer patients the opportunity to engage in a wholistic form of therapy based on the values, beliefs and traditions of Aboriginal peoples. The Sweat Lodge ceremony is intended to cleanse and heal the body and mind – restoring balance and wellness.
The celebration event will include formal remarks and opening of ceremonial grounds.
