In Montreal, François Legault, the premier of Quebec, hosts a virtual joint news conference with Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers. Legault is hosting the event in his capacity as chair of the Council of the Federation. The premiers renew their call for a $28-billion increase in federal health-care transfer payments to the provinces without strings attached. With this increase, Ottawa’s contribution in health expenses would grow from 22 to 35 per cent. They also comment on the COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
