Cape Breton Mi’kmaq community projects receive grants to help prevent sexual violence – Cape Breton Post

SYDNEY — Three Cape Breton First Nations communities have been granted more than $75,000 in provincial funding to bolster efforts to prevent sexual violence in their communities.

The financial boost for the Cape Breton programming was announced Monday morning as part of a $150,000 funding announcement through the province’s ‘Sexual Violence Strategy.’

The largest Cape Breton benefactor will be the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association, which will get over $36,000 to provide culturally relevant programming to aboriginal women and girls in the Sydney area to enhance skills, bolster confidence and improve the community’s ability to prevent sexual violence.
